Ian Haig is the founder of Idea Hat which he set up to bring together his expertise as an NHS hospital manager, business consultant and training facilitator with his experience as a producer of film, audio and live theatre events.

Ian has 20 years’ experience as a Manager and Operations Director at world-leading specialist NHS hospitals. He also provides management consultancy and training to a wide range of businesses.

Through his work at Idea Hat, Ian enjoys applying these organisational skills and those learned during his time at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) to a variety of creative projects, as a producer and filmmaker . . .

Showtime Challenge: 48-Hour Musicals: Ian is Creator and Producer, performing fully staged musicals at major West End theatres after just 48 hours of intense rehearsals.

Burnout: Idea Hat worked with Adrian Tanner and Many Hands Productions on this documentary with experts including George Monbiot.

Getting Better – The Fight for the NHS: Ian produced, co-directed and wrote the story for this Audible Original 10-part drama, starring Rhod Gilbert, Mark Gatiss and Kathryn Drysdale.

Ian produced Dark Mountain, a short film filmed in Snowdonia starring Gaynor Faye (Coronation Street, Emmerdale), and provided film location services for the movie 23 Walks (starring Alison Steadman & Dave Johns), The Martin Lewis Money Show (ITV) and Ridley Scott (for a major forthcoming movie). He also works with Kim Fuller on Comedy Plaza, the essential comedy hub for writers, performers & up-and-coming talent.

Ian also plays bass trombone with the London Gay Big Band, performing at Ronnie Scott’s, Trafalgar Square, and the Brandenburg Gate with Eurovision’s Conchita Wurst. They have recorded at Abbey Road studios and performed in the live finals of Britain’s Got Talent.
